LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18)– Investigators are trying to determine what caused a fire in Lexington.
It happened just after 2 a.m. Wednesday in the 2000 block of Planters Court near the intersection of Man o’ War and Harrodsburg Road.
Officials say a father and son were home when the fire broke out.
The father says he woke up to the sound of smoke detectors going off and smoke in the house.
He was able to get his son and their cat out.
The father says he had a fire burning in the chimney and thinks something may have still been smoldering.
Parts of the home have extensive damage.
