LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18)– City leaders have voted to lower the speed limit on nearly a dozen downtown streets within the next month.

Speed limits on 11 streets, including parts of Tates Creek Road, Limestone, Euclid Avenue and High Street, will drop from 35 miles per hour to 25 miles per hour.

The city made similar changes in 2016 as part of a pedestrian safety initiative.

City officials expect the changes to be made by the end of the year.
