LOUISVILLE, Ky. (LEX 18)– Three deputies from the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office received the Kentucky Sheriff’s Association highest award on Thursday in Louisville at their awards banquet.

Deputy Travis Napier, Deputy Jamie Etherton, and Deputy Jake Miller received the Kentucky Sheriff’s Association “Medal of Honor” award.

The award was presented regarding an armed subject that Laurel County deputies responded to. When deputies arrived at the scene, the suspect fired at responding officers striking cruisers multiple times with deputies outside them who returned fire in self-defense stopping the subject.
