GRAYSON COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– A woman has died from hypothermia after falling into a ditch in Clarkson.

According to K105, 94-year-old Helen Haycraft, of Clarkson, fell into a ditch face first on Sunday in the 200 block of East Main Street and was unable to get up. First responders tried to revive Haycraft, but were unsuccessful.

The Grayson County Coroner said Haycraft had been deceased for three to four hours before being found. He added that Haycraft died from “hypothermia due to exposure,” as the temperature at the time was in the low 30s.

Haycraft lived less than 200 yards from where she fell.

The investigation is ongoing.
