CLAY COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) – An arrest has been made in connection to an infant that was found dead in a trash bag, Kentucky State Police confirm.

Police say the infant was found on the porch of a residence in Manchester.

The Manchester Enterprise says Amber Bowling, 21, was taken into custody. Police say the arrest came at around 3:30 p.m. at her apartment.

An autopsy showed that the baby died from injuries related to blunt-force trauma, according to the coroner. The arrest citation said the baby had a cranial fracture, fractured ribs, and the infant’s brain had bled.

The arrest citation said that Bowling told police she had given birth to the child on Sunday, then placed the crying baby in the trash bag and threw it over the upstairs banister of the apartment complex.

She is charged with murder and was lodged in the Clay County Detention Center.
