PADUCAH, Ky. (WPSD)- A Paducah woman who worked with children in life is continuing to help them even after her death.

According to WPSD, Connie Johnson collected Barbie dolls for more than 15 years. Before losing her battle with colon cancer, she told her husband Gary that she wanted her dolls to be given to children in St. Jude’s hospital.

Gary said the donation will help him heal. He loaded the dolls in his wife’s convertible and drove them to the WPSD studios for their toy drive.

“You know, we talk about a lot of kids don’t really have a Christmas. Something like this will kind of help make up for that — make sure that they do,” Gary said. “Her car, her barbies, you know — and she’s looking down smiling right now, and that’s the way I kind of look at it.”

Gary said he’s looked up the value online, but it’s not about money — it’s about the children and he believes his wife would feel the same.
