WINCHESTER, Ky. (LEX 18) – A Winchester man is in jail after police say he violently shook his infant daughter, causing injuries.

Nicholas Grimm, 27, is charged with criminal abuse.

According to officials, the little girl was taken in for her 9-month check-up and the doctor noticed physical issues and slow development.

The doctor ordered an MRI and it showed injuries to her brain consistent with shaken infant syndrome.

The alleged abuse happened from July through November.

Police don’t believe the mother knew as the child stayed with her father a lot.  When confronted by detectives, Grimm said he was upset with the child due to his wife’s postpartum depression.
