(LEX 18) — Another earthquake struck eastern Tennessee on Saturday night, federal officials said.
The U.S. Geological Survey says a magnitude 3.0 earthquake struck around 11:15 p.m. near Mascot, Tennessee.
The depth of the earthquake was about 12 miles.
WBIR says witnesses in Mascot, Blaine and South Knoxville reported hearing a rumbling like thunder.
On Dec. 12 two earthquakes were reported in eastern Tennessee. The initial quake was a magnitude 4.4 temblor that was felt by folks in southern Kentucky and as far away as Atlanta, Georgia.
USGS said that earthquake was the second-strongest to hit eastern Tennessee. behind a magnitude 4.7 near Maryville in 1973.
