LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE 3) – A child has a 50 percent chance of living after being punched by his father, according to a Louisville Metro Police Department arrest report.

Officers said 39-year-old Joshua Dossey was in a verbal argument with his son Dec. 14 when he grabbed him by the arm and they started punching each other.

Dossey allegedly punched his son in the face and caused him to lose consciousness.

The report states the child’s grandmother saw Dossey standing over him and called police.

The child was taken to Norton’s Children’s Hospital. CPS said they were investigating the case and reported the child’s spleen was ruptured and he had a 50 percent chance of survival.

Dossey was taken into custody Dec. 15 and told police his son spit on him and hit him, so he disciplined and restrained him.

Dossey was booked into Louisville Metro Department of Corrections and charged with assault.
