LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18)– A daycare is asking for help identifying the man who they say targeted a parent as she was dropping off her son.

Video from the director of Kidz Konnection Child Care, located near the intersection of New Circle and Winchester Road, shows a driver pull up next to another car, quickly open his door, then the passenger door of the other car, and in just a few seconds, he’s gone.

The director of the daycare says he got away with a parent’s purse as she was dropping off her son inside.

She says her surveillance video shows him sitting in the parking lot for about ten minutes, waiting for the right moment to make a move.

“It’s just that time of year where people who don’t care exploit and take advantage of other people and their hard work.”

The director is asking anyone who recognizes the man in the video to contact Lexington Police.

Police say unfortunately, this kind of theft is very common.

Their advice is to lock your doors no matter how long you’re away from your car.
