LEITCHFIELD, Ky. (WAVE 3)– Charges against a Grayson County man have been upgraded from assault to murder after the death of a 1-year-old child he reportedly abused.
25-year-old James Andrew Garrigus is being held in the Grayson County Detention Center.
Kentucky State Police say the investigation began Dec. 20 after troopers tried to stop a speeding car and followed it to Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center. After reaching the hospital, the troopers learned that Garrigus was bring the his girlfriend’s child there for treatment. The child was later transferred to Norton Children’s Hospital.
KSP detectives child suffered severe head trauma while under the care of the care of Garrigus.
