POWELL COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) – A woman who spoke with LEX 18 about being a victim of mail theft was arrested for having stolen mail in her vehicle a week after her interview aired.

The arrest comes days after Powell County officials warned individuals about a rash of stolen mail. Over the course of the last week and a half, deputies say mail had been stolen and scattered along roadways throughout the county.

A  Powell County Deputy says he pulled over Jamie Renee Hall and discovered that her vehicle was full of mail that did not belong to her.

Hall was charged with possession of stolen mail and theft of mail matter. One woman allegedly captured a person who appeared to fit Hall’s description on video taking her mail from her home.

LEX 18 spoke with Hall during our initial coverage of this story. She claimed she was a victim of the mail thefts herself. She shamed the person behind the alleged thefts for potentially ruining Christmas for children and interfering with neighbors getting their medication.

“If whoever’s doing this is watching, just please think about who you’re stealing from…because you could be ruining some child’s Christmas,” said Hall.

You can catch Hall right around the 29-second mark.
