ROCKCASTLE COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– One family in Rockcastle County is thankful that the trees that fell around their home fell away from their house.

But they’re still dealing with a lot of cleanup, on top of some other hardships.

Jean Gabbard told LEX 18 Thursday night’s storm had her on pins and needles, and seemed to last nearly an hour.

“It was scary because it didn’t let up. The roar was just constant. The roar was so loud that I didn’t even hear this happen.”

When she peeked out her back door Friday morning, she found one tree on top of her husband’s truck…one that he’s driven for 18 years.

“Everybody just recognized the truck because it had been around so long. It’s kind of heartbreaking to see it the way it is today.”

Brodhead’s Emergency Management team had several reports of downed trees throughout the city.

For the Gabbard’s, who are also dealing with major family health issues, it’s another problem they’ll have to overcome together.

Jean says she is just grateful that no one was hurt.
