LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Lexington police arrested a Lancaster man Saturday on kidnapping, assault and weapons charges after he allegedly held a woman against her will.

Police charged 49-year-old Joseph Wilson on several charges after taking him into custody Saturday evening in the 100 block of North Mount Tabor Road.

Lexington police said they received a call around 1 p.m. from the woman’s mother saying Wilson was holding her daughter against her will at Lexington hotel.

The pair left the hotel, and police were able to get on a three-way phone call with the mother and the alleged victim.

Officials said the pair were traveling in a vehicle in and out of Fayette and Jessamine counties.

Police eventually were able to stop them about 7:30 p.m. on North Mount Tabor Road in Lexington.

Authorities said the alleged victim said Wilson pointed a gun at her inside the hotel room and had choked and beaten her throughout the day.

Wilson was described as her boyfriend, and police said she had a pending emergency protection order against him.

Police said they found a gun in Wilson’s possession.

He was charged with kidnapping, intimidation of a participant in the legal process, fourth-degree assault, first-degree wanton endangerment, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and tampering with physical evidence.

Wilson was being held in the Fayette County Detention Center.
