FRANKFORT, Ky. (LEX 18) – An order signed by Judge Karen Caldwell in the Eastern District Court will hold in abeyance all federal civil court cases involving the United States due to the government shutdown.

Certain cases will not be heard and certain Department of Justice attorneys and employees are prohibited from working, even voluntarily.

All civil litigation involving the United States, its agencies, its offices, and employees will be suspended and postponed for 14 days from the entry of the order on Jan. 8.

This does not include criminal cases.
