LETCHER COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– On Thursday, a Letcher County woman died in a crash on Highway 588 in Ice.
The crash happened around 12:49 p.m.
KSP says that 64-year-old Brenda Skeens was driving a 2013 Toyota Corolla travelling west on Highway 588 when she attempted to turn left onto Ice Road. While turning, her vehicle collided with a 2003 Jeep Cherokee travelling east.
Skeens was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Jeep, 37-year-old John Sturgill, of Whitesburg, was taken to Whitesburg ARH and later transferred to Pikeville Medical Center.
The crash remains under investigation.
