Lexington Chef Serving Free Food To Furloughed Federal Employees

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18)– One of Lexington’s prominent chefs is joining the ranks to help those affected by the government shutdown.

The Ouita Michel Family of Restaurants will serve lunch free of charge to furloughed federal employees with a valid ID.

All of her Central Kentucky restaurants–Zim’s Cafe, Windy Corner Market, Wallace Station, and both locations of Smithtown Seafood–will be serving the free lunches from 11 p.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday.

“We wanna make people feel at home as possible when they come into our restaurants and when they don’t have something or they can’t get it at home we want them to be able to come to us to get it as well.”

Her restaurant in Midway–Holly Hill Inn–will be serving a free spaghetti and meatball dinner for federal employees from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21. Please call (859) 846-4732 to attend.
