LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18)– A man has been arrested after allegedly taking off from a traffic stop, dragging a police officer along the way.

34-year-old Adrian Lee Bishop was pulled over for a broken tail light in the Hamburg area on Dec. 22.

But when police ran his permit, they discovered warrants for his arrest.

Police say Bishop realized he was about to be arrested, and jumped back into his car.

One officer reached into the vehicle to stop him, but Bishop allegedly started the car and left, dragging the officer a short distance.

Two other officers were standing nearby and say they were nearly hit.

Bishop is now charged with three counts of wanton endangerment of a police officer, as well as a dozen other charges.
