LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18)– Federal employees will protest the government shutdown outside of Senator Mitch McConnell’s Lexington office on Wednesday.

The American Federation of Government Employees is organizing the rally to highlight the effect the shutdown is having on families.

It’s estimated that 40 percent of the federal workforce, or 800,000 employees, are not getting paid during this partial shutdown.

The rally is set to begin at 11:30 a.m. at McConnell’s office near the intersection of New Circle Road and Harrodsburg Road.
