LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18)– Another local restaurant is offering a good meal for furloughed federal workers affected by the government shutdown.

Hayden’s Stockyard Eatery at the Bluegrass Stockyards uses products that are Kentucky Proud. They have biscuits, eggs, and burgers available seven days a week. Right now, they’ve got a special deal for furloughed federal workers.

“We’re a family owned business so we can only imagine what it’s like to lose a paycheck,” said Sam Sears at Hayden’s Stockyard Eatery.

With the purchase of a drink, furloughed federal workers can get a free breakfast sandwich of their choice (8:00 a.m. -10:30 a.m.) or a free specialty cheeseburger platter OR a sandwich platter with a cup of soup or chili (11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.). The offer is good Monday-Thursday until further notice. All you have to do is show up with your federal ID and the folks there will fix you up.

“We wanted to do something to help the community out the community has been really good to us, so it’s time for us to give back,” said Sears.

The idea is to offer a little comfort to their neighbors during a time when money may be tight.

They’re prepared to do so as long as the need remains.

“‘Til they get paid again,” Sears said.
