Governor Matt Bevin Announces Ralph Alvarado As His Running Mate

FRANKFORT, KY. (LEX 18) -Governor Matt Bevin has filed paperwork to seek re-election.  He also announced that he will replace Lt. Gov. Jenean Hampton on the ballot with a new running mate.

Bevin announced Friday in a press conference that he will run alongside with Ralph Alvarado, a current state Senator for the 28th district of the Commonwealth.

When asked why he was replacing Hampton, Bevin responded, “Because I chose to run with Alvarado.”

Bevin praised Hampton but went on to say, “The reality is this is someone who moves with a sense of urgency as we move forward.”

The two then walked out of the Rotunda to file paperwork to make the run official. Also running in the Republican gubernatorial primary is Robert Goforth and William Woods.
