LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — The Catholic Action Center needs more donations as they gear up for another busy night.

George Withers with the Catholic Action Center says that the need to bring people in from the cold has been non-stop.

The Compassionate Caravan, which aims to serve those living on the streets, rolled through Lexington all night, bringing in 18 people after 11 p.m.. The shelter was packed with 236 people, the fullest Withers has ever seen it.

The Compassionate Caravan is also bringing people with pets to the Days Motel on Versailles Road. Tuesday night, seven dogs and their owners were brought to the motel by the van.

The Catholic Action Center expects that tonight will be just as busy, so they are in need of donations.

They need large sized long underwear, sleeping bags, hand warmers, and any food donations would be appreciated.

“All these extra people coming in, and we gonna have to feed them, and we feed them three times a day,” said Withers.

Withers told LEX 18 that he knows there are still many more people in need.

Donations can be dropped off at the Catholic Action Center any time, day or night. They are located at 1055 Industry Road.
