MADISON COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– A Clark County woman who was last seen Monday near Lake Reba may have been found dead.

Officials tell LEX 18 a body was found Thursday on Concord Road off HWY 52 in Richmond.

Family says 26-year-old Amanda Bailey was in the area Monday to talk with her ex-boyfriend. Her mother said the man told her Bailey walked off and no one has seen her since.

The coroner says there is a body and he is on scene. There’s no word on a cause of death yet.  An autopsy will be performed in Frankfort to confirm the identity. The sheriff tells LEX 18 the family has been contacted.

After searching for almost 30 minutes Thursday morning, Robert Elkins and another neighbor crossed a creek on his property where they discovered the body. Elkins and the neighbor called police.

Elkins had helped with the search until after dark Wednesday night, and as a father himself, knew he needed to continue the search Thursday.

“There’s coyotes back there too and I got to thinking about that, and that’s somebody’s, you don’t even think about that, I’ve got a daughter, I didn’t sleep much last night, that could have been my daughter, I’m just glad she’s found,” Elkins told LEX 18.

Although it has not been confirmed that the body is Amanda Bailey’s, her family says she was last seen by her ex-boyfriend on Monday and could have followed a path that led her to Elkins’ farm.

“There’s a creek she would have had to have crossed to go to where we found her, and it’s like waist-deep and if she had gotten across that creek hypothermia would have set in,” said Elkins.
