HANCOCK COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– The body of a young child will be brought from Western Kentucky to Georgia after a judge’s ruling earlier this week.

A Georgia judge ruled Wednesday that Wesley Newton, whose body was exhumed from a Georgia cemetery and brought to Hancock County, must be returned.

Stephen Newton said earlier this month that he wanted to bring his son, Wesley, to Hancock County to be buried with his family.

Wesley was a baby when he died 27 years ago.

Newton says he contacted the funeral home in Georgia and that they handled permits and dug up the casket.

He says he picked up the remains on Christmas Eve and put them in his father’s garage until the body could be buried.
