LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18)– A woman was taken to the hospital following a fire at a Lexington 4-plex.
It happened around 3:45 a.m. Thursday on Santa Fe Court.
Officials say when they arrived on scene, smoke was coming from the top of the building. They evacuated the other three units as a precaution, but have since allowed those residents to return to their homes.
Crews were able to contain the fire to the second floor unit, but they are unsure at this time what the extent of the damage is.
The woman was the only person in the unit that caught fire. She was taken to the hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.
Originally, crews had trouble battling the fire because hydrants caps were frozen on, but they eventually got them off.
