KY 27 Reopens After Deadly McCreary County Crash

MCCREARY COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– A major roadway in McCreary County is back open after a deadly crash Sunday night.

It happened around 11 p.m. on HWY 27, near the intersection with 592, in Pine Knot.

Officials say 43-year-old Adam Slaven was walking southbound on US HWY 27 in the middle of the roadway when he was struck by a Lexus traveling southbound operated by Anthony Buttram, 55, of Oneida, TN.

After the initial impact, Slaven was knocked over into the northbound lane of US 27 where he was then struck by three other vehicles traveling northbound.

Slaven was pronounced deceased at the scene by the McCreary County Coroner’s Office.

The roadway was shut down for several hours while crews worked the scene.
