WASHINGTON (LEX 18) — Federal authorities said Tuesday that a former Jackson County treasurer pleaded guilty to charges involving fraud and identity theft.

The U.S. Department of Justice said 38-year-old Beth N. Sallee of McKee pleaded guilty to one count of wire fraud and one count of aggravated theft.

According to authorities, Sallee drafted a series of check beginning in 2013 to herself totaling nearly $162,000.

The money came from several Jackson County Fiscal Court accounts, officials said.

To further the scheme, according to authorities, Sallee forged other county employees’ names on unauthorized checks and manipulated records.

Sallee is scheduled to be sentenced June 18.
