FRANKFORT, Ky. (LEX 18)– State lawmakers will reconvene in Frankfort on Tuesday after a month-long break.

But they won’t be the only ones to do so.

The Kentucky Poor People’s Campaign will return in protest of Governor Matt Bevin’s “statement of emergency” on public access at the Capitol building.

Activists say they plan to highlight true emergencies in the state, like low wages, lack of access to affordable health care, and an unjust criminal justice system.

When the campaign protested at the Capitol last summer, state police were directed to only allowed two activists inside at a time.

Kentucky Attorney General Andy Beshear said this action was unlawful.
