LEXINGTON, KY (Lex 18) – A volunteer search team trying to find a missing Madison County mother is in need of a boat for its search effort this week.

On Thursday, the Cajun Coast Search and Rescue Team will take its search for Savannah Spurlock to the Kentucky River.

Commander Toney Wade’s team will start near Camp Nelson and spend hours seeing if their highly-trained dog, Pepper, catches a scent.

Wade said the team has one boat, but desperately needs another.

“If somebody would volunteer a little time and come out with us tomorrow with their boat, it would be greatly appreciated,” Wade said.

Spurlock was last seen leaving “The Other Bar” in Lexington on January 4th, but police say she also went to a home in Garrard County that night.

Since then, investigators have searched the area extensively with no luck.

Wade said he has no reason to believe she’s in or around the Kentucky River either, but his team will search there anyway.

“We have a saying in search and rescue that you find what you’re looking for the last place you look. So, we’re looking right now, and we’re hoping tomorrow will be the last place we need to look,” Wade said.

If you have a boat Wade can use, you can contact him on the Cajun Coast Search and Rescue Facebook page.
