COVINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18)– An Ohio man has been sentenced for hitting a flight attendant in March of 2018.

The flight from Phoenix to Cleveland was diverted to Cincinnati Northern Kentucky Airport due to the incident.

According to the Department of Justice, 24-year-old Donald Zuppo Jr. was sentenced to 31 days in custody followed by seven months of home detention.

Officials say Zuppo became agitated on the flight and hit a flight attendant.

Zuppo was also ordered to pay restitution to the flight attendant and will be under supervision of the US Probation Office for two years.
