(LEX 18) — His mugshot was plastered across the country, and after nearly a month on the run, the suspect in fatal shooting of a Knox County man has been taken into custody.

A federal task force arrested 24-year-old Phillip Lee Lewis on Friday in Flint, Michigan.

Police say Lewis walked into the A&B Quick Stop in Gray last month and pointed a gun at the clerk. Authorities say Lewis fatally shot 25-year-old Gary Medlin, a customer inside the convenience store, when he tried to flee.

Just last week, the FBI announced its involvement in the case. That gave the family of Medlin, who was the father of two, a renewed sense of hope that justice might be served.

“We’re going to get justice for Gary,” said Brandy Frechette, Medlin’s mother. “He deserves that, we deserve that, his kids deserve that.”

Lewis was charged with murder and robbery. He’s also expected to face federal charges.
