PIKE COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — Kentucky State Police have released the cause of death for a Pike County woman who was found lying outside a home on Johns Creek.

Authorities say that the cause of the death is consistent with blunt force trauma of being struck by a vehicle.

They say that it also appears from evidence collected at the scene that the event may have started as a burglary or robbery inside of the home.

Just after 9 p.m. Saturday, KSP received the call about a woman lying outside in a driveway. When crews responded to the scene, officials determined that 44-year-old Michele Smith, of Johns Creek, was dead.

Through their investigation, KSP said it appears there was a possible robbery with an assault possibly involving a motor vehicle.
