MADISON COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– A Berea man is in jail after police say he broke into a home and was discovered on the victim’s couch.

According to police, officers were called to a home Saturday in the 500-block of Chestnut Street. The victim told police he had been out but when he returned home he found an unknown male subject on his couch.

Police say the subject, identified as 31-year-old Michael Whitt, was placed under arrest and showed signs of impairment.

He reportedly had made his way through the victim’s front door, which was unlocked.

Whitt was charged with first-degree criminal trespassing, public intoxication, possession of marijuana, and drug paraphernalia possession.
