WASHINGTON, D.C. (LEX 18)– Amy McGrath might be considering another run for office.

According to a report from Politico, McGrath met with Senator Chuck Schumer, of New York, and other key Democratic Party members last month.

They are encouraging her to enter the 2020 Senate primary race for a chance to oppose Mitch McConnell.

McGrath burst onto the national scene last spring, when she won the sixth district congressional primary over former Lexington Mayor Jim Gray. She ultimately lost to incumbent Andy Barr in November.

McGrath’s campaign hasn’t commented on the report. However, a staff member of McConnell’s campaign has issued a statement:

“As Senator McConnell and President Trump were working to resolve a government shutdown and secure our nation’s borders, Amy McGrath was holed up in Democratic headquarters meeting with open border ringleader Chuck Schumer about a Senate race. I think that says more about her priorities and the priorities of far-left liberals like Chuck Schumer than anything Senator McConnell could say.” –Josh Holmes
