LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– A London man is behind bars after he was arrested on a felony warrant.

The Laurel County Sheriff’s Department arrested 43-year-old Robert S. Jones around 12:27 a.m. Thursday at a residence off Tomcat Trail.

Officials say when they arrived at Jones’ home, they were informed that he was creating a disturbance and making numerous citizens fear for their safety.

When they attempted to place him under arrest, he became irate and scuffled with officers before they were finally able to take him into custody.

He was reportedly found in possession of suspected methamphetamine, a glass pipe, snorting straws, and several guns.

The charges in Jones’ warrant are listed as: intimidating a participant in the legal process and 13 counts of third-degree terroristic threatening. They stem from an investigation conducted by the sheriff’s office regarding Jones traveling to the office and attempting to persuade Sheriff John Root to have charges against him dropped. Root refused to do so and asked Jones to leave the office.

Officials say since that time–including the past two days–Jones made multiple threats on social media indicating threats to officers that were on the scene of his arrest, the sheriff, and two other people who he had a relationship with.

At the time of his arrest, Jones was additionally charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia; second-degree disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest.
