FRANKFORT, Ky. (LEX 18)– Protesters stood outside the Capitol on Thursday to voice their concerns over a lawsuit they say is at the core of the opioid epidemic.

The group said the state supreme court is deciding whether proceedings related to the pharmaceutical company Purdue Pharma will be made public.

Protesters said they want justices to reject the company’s motion for discretionary review and uphold a lower court’s decision to release Purdue Pharma documents.

They say they’re call for action stems from a Pike County lawsuit pertaining to allegedly illegal marketing of Oxycontin.

That lawsuit was settled by the company.

We’re told a ruling could have been made Thursday, but was not.
