CHRISTIAN COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — A suspect in the shooting of a Hopkinsville police officer has been arrested in Tennessee.
Officials said 28-year-old Keith Allen Kuzyk was arrested Monday after an intensive search.
Hopkinsville police said one of its officers was during a chase after a vehicle was stolen.
Officials said officer Jeremy Davidson was in “good condition” after being shot twice: “once in the head region and once in the arm.”
Police said the incident began when someone called 911 reporting their vehicle was stolen from a Walmart parking lot.
About an hour later, police say, officers spotted both the stolen vehicle and the vehicle that the theft victim described as belonging to the suspects. Two police chases ensued, officials said.
Davidson was following a black Ram pickup truck. Police used spike strips to try to stop the vehicle, authorities said, and “10 seconds later” the suspect opened fire on Davidson.
The suspect got away, as did the suspect or suspects in the other vehicle, police said. Officials said they had “no suspect information” but believe there were at least three people involved.
Police said they do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public, calling it a “case of a coward trying to get away.”
