BARREN COUNTY, Ky. (WNKY)– An investigation is underway in Western Kentucky after a small improvised explosive device was found in a mailbox.

It happened Wednesday in the 1300 block of Oil Well Road in Glasgow.

The Barren County Sheriff’s Office contacted the Kentucky State Police Hazardous Devices Unit for assistance.

When they arrived on scene, officials took an x-ray of the device, found that it was intact, and rendered it safe.
