WOODFORD COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– Several locations in Lexington and Versailles are preparing to become scenes in a new Drew Barrymore films.

It was a normal week at the Amsden Coffee Club in Versailles, and then a man came in the coffee shop three days in a row.

“We just randomly were approached by a locations scout. He left a note with one of our employees three days in a row so I threw away the first two because I thought it was fake, and then the third day I finally called him back because they said, ‘look, this guy’s real persistent,'” said co-owner Alex Riddle.

After talking to the scout, Riddle called his wife, who is also his business partner and high school sweetheart.

“I called her and just said, ‘I think this is real.’ I said, ‘I think this is actually a movie with Drew Barrymore in it,'” he said.

After agreeing to be a part of the movie, the team came out to figure out how they’ll turn the Gathered Mercantile shop and historic building into a movie set.

“Her happy ending scene is what we’ve been told. This is where she opens a–she opens an old wood furniture shop and lives out at the end of the movie,” said Riddle.

He said that the exterior of the furniture shop will actually be a building right across the street.

“There’s some filming at a house here, they said. And then this. And that’s kind of her happy ending. Move to a small town and get away from the glitz and the glamour,” he said. “It didn’t really hit me how much fun this was gonna be for the town, and how much fun this was going to be for us until like, yesterday. The buzz has started happening and people are excited, and so that’s been really fun to watch.”

Scenes of the movie will be filmed in Lexington and Versailles next week, but the Amsden Coffee Club plans to stay open while filming is happening in their attached shop.
