Barren Co. Deputy Wounded In Shooting After Vehicle Pursuit

BARREN COUNTY, Ky. (WNKY) — A Barren County Sheriff’s deputy was shot early Saturday during an arrest, officials said.

WNKY reports that Deputy Joseph Ford was wounded about 1:30 a.m. in a altercation following a vehicle pursuit.

Officials said Ford was taken to the University of Louisville Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Kentucky State Police officials said Ford was shot while trying to arrest 37-year-old Jonathan D. Shelton of Smyrna, Tennessee.

Shelton was charged with first-degree assault on a police officer, third-degree assault on a police officer and three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment on a police officer.
