MOUNT VERNON, Ky. (LEX 18) — A Rockcastle County man agreed to a 10-year prison sentence after being convicted of sexually abusing two young relatives.

Robert Napier

Authorities say 40-year-old Robert Napier was indicted Feb. 9, 2018, by a grand jury. Napier was accused of sexually abusing two children, both younger than 16, several time from 2015-16.

During a two-day trial that ended Wednesday, Napier denied ever touching the children. However, according to Commonwealth’s Attorney Eddy F. Montgomery’s office, Napier gave “inconsistent statements to the Kentucky State Police.”

Ultimately, a jury found Napier guilty on all five counts of sexual abuse that he faced.

Napier waived a jury sentencing. He agreed to the 10-year prison sentence and waived his right to appeal the sentence. Officials said he would face five years of conditional discharge upon release and will be required to register for life as a sex offender.

Napier was being held in the Rockcastle County Detention Center.
