LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE 3)– Police say a report that led to a SWAT team response in Louisville on Wednesday turned out to be a hoax.

Matt Mercurio, the homeowner, says he was in the shower getting ready for work when he heard an officer on a bullhorn order him out.

Mercurio lives alone at the home with his dogs, but police were led there by a caller who said an adult and a child had been killed in some sort of domestic violence.

He cooperated and surrendered to dozens of officers with guns, who then searched his home.

“They were doing their job and I get it. Then they said we got a report that there is a dead… a shooting in your house there was a dead guy and dead child in your house. They said we have to take these things seriously and I said, ‘yeah, absolutely.'”

Police are now looking for the person who made the tip call.
