2 Teens Injured After Being Struck By Train

GRANT COUNTY, Ky. (WCPO)– Two teenagers were taken to the hospital after they were hit by a train in Northern Kentucky.

Authorities say it happened around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the north intersection of Needham Lane and Dixie Highway in Dry Ridge.

Kentucky State Police say the two females were walking on the railroad while a Norfolk Southern train was approaching. The 18-year-old attempted to move out of the way and fell down an embankment causing minor injuries, however the 17-year-old was unable to get completely clear of the train and was struck.

Officials say the 17-year-old was severely injured and had to be airlifted to the University of Cincinnati Hospital.

The 18-year-old was taken to the hospital by ambulance.
