FRANKFORT, Ky. (LEX 18) – Slavery. The Holocaust. Lynchings. Abortion. Those are things that some lawmakers think should never be compared, but it’s what they say is happening in Frankfort this session.

The Legislative Black Caucus and the Women’s House Democratic Caucus made it clear they are offended.

“I was hurt for my ancestors as well as victims, survivors, and descendants of folks who experienced the Holocaust,” Rep. Attica Scott of Louisville announced.

The lawmakers say that while an abortion bill was being discussed, other lawmakers and people testifying compared abortion to slavery, lynching and the Holocaust.

Two hours after the caucus spoke, Governor Matt Bevin spoke at a pro-life rally. He said he is proud to be the most pro-life governor in America.

“Who wouldn’t want to be anything other than pro-life. I do not understand why we would want to celebrate the alternative. Who among us would want to celebrate the taking of innocent lives,” said Bevin.
