CUMBERLAND, Md. (Herald-Mail Media)– A missing Kentucky man has been found dead after a crash in Maryland.
31-year-old Avery Smothers was reported missing Sunday.
Just before 8 a.m. Wednesday morning, Maryland State Police were alerted that an SUV was found down an embankment off I-68 near Cumberland.
Smothers was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators say he was thrown from the vehicle when it left the road, and hit a tree before rolling several times.
His family says Smothers left Kentucky to visit relatives in Maryland.
