FRANKFORT, Ky. (LEX 18)– A bill that has cleared the state House of Representatives would impact the Kentucky voting system.

House Bill 325 would prohibit voters who switch political parties on or after Dec. 31 immediately preceding a primary election from voting in the upcoming primary.

New voters who register to vote after Dec. 31 would have to stay registered with the same party until the following primary in order to vote in that election.

The bill now goes to the Senate.
