LOUISVILLE, Ky. (LEX 18) – Louisville Zoo and Mega Cavern will remain closed through the weekend after a sinkhole opened up on the property earlier in the week.
The sinkhole was found off a service road. A large team of engineers and geologists are investigating the hole. No animals were harmed and nearby homes and businesses are not in danger.
Mega Cavern was already closed before the sinkhole was discovered, following a 3.4 magnitude earthquake near the Kentucky/Tennessee state line.
When the team determines the entire area to be safe the Zoo will resume full operations.
