LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18)– A second member of the Beverly Hills 90210 cast has died within one week. One of the former cast members of the show lives in Lexington and sat down with LEX 18 to talk about Luke Perry and Jed Allan.

Matthew Laurance played Mel Silver in the popular 90’s TV show, Beverly Hills 90210.

“It was supposed to be one episode and it turned into nine years,” he said.

Sports fans in Lexington may recognize Laurance’s voice. He’s featured on ESPN Sports Radio 1300 AM and 92.5 FM.

The 90210 cast was recently devastated by the loss of Perry and Allan. Perry, who played Dylan Mckay, died after suffering a stroke.

“You have seen nothing but incredible words and thoughts about what an amazing human being he was, and he was, and that’s,  that’s the hard part,” said Laurance. “They were a lot younger than we were and so we all had kind of fatherly feelings for all the kids on the show and Jed was a terrific guy too.”

Allan, who periodically made appearances on 90210 as Rush Sanders, died this weekend at the age of 84.

Laurence said his closest friends on the show were Perry and Jason Priestley and that he’ll always cherish the many years they worked together.

“I mean, those memories are a really important part of my life,” he said.
