FRANKFORT, Ky. (LEX 18)– Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes helped welcome 46 new Americans, who took the oath of citizenship, at a ceremony Friday.
The ceremony, which took place at Lexington Catholic High School, marks Grimes’ 90th naturalization as Secretary of State.

Grimes says the ceremonies are an important and fundamental part of her job.
She also encouraged the new citizens to be part of the democratic process by voting and being involved in their communities.
The new citizens represented 29 different countries.
