LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18)– A new program intending to help distilleries give visitors a memorable experience and reduce alcohol-related harms has launched in the Bluegrass.

The Kentucky Distillers’ Association and Better Drinking Culture’s new program can lead local distilleries in a more positive direction.

The mission of this new program is to shift the culture’s relationship with alcohol in a healthier and better direction.

The new responsible retailing program will inspect and recognize how well distilleries are marketing and operating.

Once distillery visitor centers around the Bluegrass complete an audit, they will be recognized by the group, Better Drinking Culture.

Under this new program, certified distilleries around the state will train at least one of their employees to be an ambassador.

Throughout the year, Better Drinking Culture will work with them to promote this partnership to their distillery visitors through content, resources, and social events.

It’s all about incorporating responsible alcohol practices within their visitor centers and brands.

KDA says they will share the program and its benefits with other distilleries from around the country at a conference in Denver later this month.
